File Naming Guide – Pashub
Let’s be honest—file naming isn’t the most glamorous part of retrofit coordination. But if you’ve ever had to dig through a folder full of ‘final_v2.pdf’ or ‘doc123.pdf,’ you’ll know how quickly things can go sideways.
At ECO4 Gurus, we live and breathe domestic retrofit—and that includes making sure your PAS Hub submissions are squeaky clean, with good file naming, compliant, and audit-ready. So, here’s our no-nonsense, slightly cheeky guide to naming your files the right way under PAS 2030:2023 and PAS 2035:2023.
✅ File Naming: Best Practices (a.k.a. How to Keep Your Docs in Order)
– Use underscores (_) instead of spaces. Trust us, PAS Hub prefers it that way.
– Always include the job ID—it’s your golden thread.
– Keep file extensions lowercase (e.g., .pdf, not .PDF).
– Add the measure name (like CWI, LI, ESH) when it makes sense.
– For photos, create one PDF for mid-install and one for post-install—and do this for each measure. So if you’ve got CWI and LI, examples could be:
CWI_pre_photo_[ID].pdf
CWI_Mid_ photo_[ID].pdf
LI_Mid_ photo_[ID].pdf
LI_Post_ photo_[ID].pdf
Etc – Neat and tidy.
– And please—don’t use ECO4-only terms like ‘ppes’ or ‘eooc’ as your whole filename. You can include them if they help your submission to funders, but give the rest of us a clue what’s inside!

🚫 What Not to Do (We’ve Seen It All)
– final_v2.pdf – Final? Really? Until the next version, right?
– ppes.pdf or eooc.pdf – These ECO4-era names don’t cut it anymore.
– document1.pdf – What even is this?
– Uploading 27 separate photo files – Just… no. Bundle them into a PDF.
